Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the correction of coordinates with high accuracy corresponding to the position of a workpiece, by calculating the rough position of the workpiece from the image data thereof and subsequently calculating the accurate position thereof by a contact probe. CONSTITUTION:The image of the workpiece arranged on a table is taken by the camera being the visual device of an image processor 10 to calculate the area on the image memory 12 and said area is compared with the characteristic table stored in a data memory 13 to index the name of the workpiece. Further, the posture of the workpiece and the rough position thereof on the table are calculated from image data and rough position data for the selection of a processing program and the matching of coordinates is obtained. Next, a measuring contact probe 3 is inserted in a spindle and subjected to measuring operation on the basis of the rough position data to calculate accurate position data and offset or rotation is applied to a reference coordinates system for processing on the basis of said data to set the work coordinates system matching with the actual position of the workpiece. By this method, the shift of the position or posture of the workpiece generated at the time of mounting can be corrected without using labor.
