Abstract
PURPOSE:To convert character picture data into character code data at high speed by starting automatically a processing with a feature extracting device by the input completion of the data. CONSTITUTION:The titled device has plural feature extracting devices 41-4n to convert the character picture data into feature vector data and at least one feature collating device 6 to collate the feature vector data with standard feature vector data corresponding to a character code and to out put the character code. The feature extracting devices 41-4n and the feature collating device 6 are made to automatically start the processing by the input completion of the data. Thus, the character picture data can be converted into the character code data at high speed.
