Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer, soluble in various organic solvents, readily moldable and having excellent transparency, strength, self-extinguishing properties and heat resistance, by reacting a specific diol with trichloromethyl chloroformate in an organic solvent-water mixed solvent. CONSTITUTION:The aimed polymer expressed by formula III (n is a positive integer) is obtained by reacting (A) one or two or more of diols expressed by formula I (R is hexafluoroisopropylidene when R is one kind or hexafluoroisopropylidene as one thereof and isopropylidene as the other when R is of two kinds) with (B) trichloromethyl chloroformate expressed by formula II in an organic solvent (e.g. chloroform or methylene chloride)-water mixed solvent, preferably in the coexistence of an alkali hydroxide at ambient temperature.
