Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a soft contact lens from being deformed and becoming opaque in spite of boiling by incorporating a nonionic surfactant specified in the molar ratio of the content of polyoxypropylene to polyoxyethylene. CONSTITUTION:The nonionic surfactant, more particularly preferably 'Pluronic(R)' type surfactant having the molar ratio of the content of the polyoxypropylene to the polyoxyethylene within an about 2:8-about 5:5 range is incorporated into a contact lens cleaning liquid. The performance of the contact lens cleaning liquid is largely affected by the ratio of the polyoxyethylene and the polyoxypropylene. The polyoxyethylene is hardly sol uble in water and the contact lens cleaning liquid becomes opaque if the content thereof is too low and, therefore, the content of the polyoxyethylene is prefer ably higher than about 20mol%. The contact lens is thereby prevented from being deformed and becoming opaque even if the lens is subjected to disinfection by boiling.
