Abstract

PURPOSE:To save labor for setting a paper-supplying part each time of printing in the case of repeating printing for various paper sizes, by enabling the entire body of the paper-supplying part to be freely moved within a paper-setting area, and enabling the paper-supplying part to be set to an appropriate position at a central part of a printer device according to the size of a paper used. CONSTITUTION:The operating condition of a printer device is verified by a printer device operation-verifying means 1. A distance-detecting means 2 detects the distances from the left end of a paper-setting area to left and right paper bail mechanisms. A distance data comparing and storing means 3 compares the distance data thus detected with distance data previously detected and stored, and stores the updated distance data. A distance-character position converting means 4 converts the updated distance data into the number of character digits and a set position for a paper- supplying part is determined based on the kind of a paper by a determining means 5 for the set position for the paper-supplying part. A moving means 6 for the paper- supplying part moves the entire body of the paper-supplying part to the paper-setting position thus determined, and a printing head is moved to a set position according to a designation by a program by a paper supply/printing designating means 7, followed by supplying the paper and designation of printing.
