Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the injury and seizure of an inner pheriphery of a bore from occurring until a groove vanishes by forming the inner periphery of a cylinder bore with discontinuous stripe-shaped grooves. CONSTITUTION:The inner periphery of a cylinder bore is formed with discontinuous stripe-shaped grooves (g). Oil retained in the groove (g) does not flow downward during the suspension of engine operation, and the oil hes been therefore retained on the inner periphery of the bore even at the time of restarting an engine. Thus the seizure of the inner periphery of the bore can be prevented until a piston comes into sliding contact with the groove to vanquish it.
