Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance dispersibility of a pigment dispersant for several kinds of paint resins, by producing the pigment dispersant by allowing a specified polyepoxy compd. to react simultaneously with a specified amine compd. and a specified prepolymer having a carbonyl group. CONSTITUTION:A polyepoxy compd. grafted with a prepolymer is allowed to react with a specified amine compd. By this reaction, a pigment dispersant expressed by formula I is obtd. wherein each R1 and R2 is H, alkyl group, aryl group, or heterocyclic group, with the proviso that each R1 and R2 is not H at the same time, R1 and R2 may form a heterocyclic ring having a substituent or having no substituent, together with the N atom expressed in the formula; X is a 25-6,000C hydrocarbon group comprising a carbonyl group, ether linkage, or urethane linkage; Z is a polyester residue having 300-7,000 number average mol.wt.; each n and m is >=1 being 140>=n+m>=7.
