Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the securing of safety, by obtaining X ray and neutron ray fluoroscopic images of cargoes arrayed to detect powders, firearms and the like held in a plastic container hidden in the cargoes quickly and accurately. CONSTITUTION:It is assumed that a cylindrical time bomb housing a powder 31, a metal timepiece 32 and a fuse 33 as held in a metal case 30 is hidden in a luggage. First, when the luggage is taken fluoroscopically by X rays, an X ray fluoroscopic image of only the timepiece 23 in the case 30 is obtained at the portion of the powder 31. Therefore, the luggage may pass an inspection if left as intact. On the other hand, when the same object is taken fluoroscopically by an neutron ray, the neutron ray is transmitted easily through the case 30, the timepiece 32 and the fuse 33 and hence, a neutron fluoroscopic image of the powder 31 alone is obtained. So, when the X ray fluoroscopic image and the neutron ray fluoroscopic image are synthesized with a fluoroscopic image synthesizer, a fluoroscopic image is obtained with a full array of the case 30, powder 31, timepiece 32 and fuse 33. Thus, the synthetic tomographic image is observed with a monitor thereby securing safety with the identification as a time bomb.
