Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable decision on the presence of a dent in a specified area of a specified tooth of each gear, by supporting two gears in such a manner as to be movable relatively in the direction of thrusting. CONSTITUTION:A shaft displacement of a rotating shaft is detected sequentially on at least one hand of two gears 1A and 1B and two gears 1A and 1B supported in such a manner as to be movable relatively in the direction of thrusting while meshed mutually by a shaft displacement detecting means (shaft displacement sensor 3 or the like) corresponding to a meshed surface of each tooth. Then, a detection waveform data of each meshed surface of tooth detected is divided corresponding to a plurality of detection areas. Then, meshed surfaces of the gears 1A and 1B are changed from the first to second state corresponding to a plurality of detection surfaces by moving the two gears 1A and 1B relatively. This also enables the detection of a dent generated in a specified surface area of each specified tooth of the gears 1A and 1B from a corresponding relationship of detected waveform data divided at the first and second states.
