Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a protective coating material for annealing giving a clean, smooth surface nearly free from oxide to a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet by mixing nonhydratable powder of Ca or Sr metasilicate or Ca aluminate with Al2O3 powder in a prescribed ratio. CONSTITUTION:This protective coating material for annealing is composed of 15-60wt.% nonhydratable powder of Ca or Sr metasilicate or Ca aluminate and the balance Al2O3 powder. The protective coating material is used in the final box annealing of a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet and gives a clean, smooth surface nearly free form oxide.
