Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the title pressure-sensitive adhesion having excellent adhesion to polyolefins and film transparency, by emulsion polymn. of a specific ethylenically unsatd. monomer in an aq. emulsion of seed particles with a specific two-layer structure. CONSTITUTION:An ethylenically unsatd. monomer comprising at least one member selected from styrene, alpha-methylstyrene, acrylonitrile, methyl methacrylate and vinyltoluene is emulsion-polymerized in an emulsion of a tackifier resin to prepare an aq. emulsion of particles with a two-layer structure comprising a core layer of the tackifier resin and a layer (A1) of the polymer of the ethylenically unsatd. monomer. An ethylenically unsatd. monomer comprising at least one alkyl (meth)acrylate contg. an alkyl group having at least 4C is emulsion-polymerized in the above-mentioned aq. emulsion of the particles with the two-layer structure as seeds to prepare an aq. emulsion of particles with a multi-layer structure further comprising a layer (A2) of the polymer of the alkyl (meth)acrylate. The obtd. emulsion is used as a pressure-sensitive adhesive.
