Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove solids accumulated on filter media during continuous filtration work by using rotary drum filters which have suction pipes within shells and are activated and connected with low-presser boxes in a part of their outside surfaces. CONSTITUTION: A tank 18 is internally provided with the rotary drum filters 10, 12 which comprise cylindrical tanks having perforated outside walls 22 and the filter media 28 consisting of filter cloth, etc., enclosing these walls, and are internally provided with the suction pipes 46 and have the backward washing low-pressure boxes 90 extending over the entire length of the filter media 28 and coming into contact with a part of the filter medial 28. Liquid 16 to be filtered is sucked by the pressure difference given by the suction pipes 46 and the filtrate is sucked to the outer side of the filters 10, 12 by partially generating low pressures in the low-pressure boxes 90, by which the solids accumulated on the filter media 28 are removed and simultaneously the filtration work is continuously carried out.
