Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily produce glass and ceramic molded forms having a required shape by allowing a base material or a porous base material having a fibrous structure consisting of material which is decomposed and burned by sintering to be impregnated with sol dispersed with fine ceramic particles and thereafter drying and sintering it. CONSTITUTION:A molded form obtained by molding a base material (e.g., paper) or a porous base material (e.g., sponge) having a fibrous structure consisting of material which is decomposed and burned in a sintering process into a required shape is impregnated with sol dispersed with fine ceramic particles regulated by a method for dispersing fine ceramic powder in a dispersion medium and/or a method for hydrolyzing metallic alkoxide and thereby the fine ceramic particles are introduced into fiber or fine narrow pores, and thereafter it is dried to evaporate the dispersion medium of sol and furthermore sintered to obtain the titled molded form.
