Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the adhesion and solidification of flaky and/or powdery metallic iron when hydrochloric acid and the metallic iron are brought into a batchwise reaction under heating at intervals of long suspension time, by immersing and holding the remaining metallic iron in hydrochloric acid at a low temp. until the subsequent reaction is initiated. CONSTITUTION:When hydrochloric acid and flaky and/or powdery metallic iron are brought into a reaction under heating to produce an aq. ferrous chloride soln., the produced ferrous chloride soln. is drawn out in the hot state, filtered and recovered and the remaining metallic iron is immersed and held in hydrochloric acid at <=50 deg.C until the subsequent reaction is initiated.
