Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain the encoding of a high correlation by sampling image data in an X axis direction and a Y axis direction successively with regularity, dividing them into the plural extracting data of first and second extracting data, successively forecasting based on a picture element in which the encoding is finished and encoding an error to be based on this forecasting. CONSTITUTION:By a first encoding means 1, image data are sampled in an X axis direction and a Y axis direction with regularity and further, first extracting data extracted by this sampling are encoded. Concerning a picture element out of the subject of this sampling, by a second encoding means, similarly with regularity, the sampling is extracted and plural second extracting data formed by the picture elements of mutually different picture element positions are encoded by referring the closing picture element of a strong correlation in which the successive encodings are respectively finished. Thus, the encoding of a high encoding accuracy and a short data length is executed.
