Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the response speed of measurement and to enable the measurement with high accuracy by constituting a sensor of a sensor electrode formed like a thin film by electrolytic polymn. of an electrochemically active polymer on an electrode base body as well as a counter electrode and reference electrode. CONSTITUTION:The sensor electrode 1 consists of the thin film which is formed by the electrolytic polymn. of the electrochemically active polymer such as, for example, polypyrrole on the electrolytic base body consisting of carbon, metal, etc. For example, a Pt plate is used as the counter electrode 3 and, for example, a saturate calomel electrode is used as the reference electrode 2. The oxygen sensor constituted in such a manner is immersed in a liquid 6 to be measured. The relation between the concn. of the dissolved oxygen in the liquid and the potential upon lapse of the specified time of the sensor electrode or the time until the specified potential is attained is determined with the temp. of the liquid as a parameter and the value thereof is kept as a known value. The concn. of the dissolved oxygen is then measured by measuring the potential or the time with various kinds of the liquids to be measured.
