Abstract

PURPOSE:To excite a laser medium gas uniformly, and to obtain laser beams at a stable mode by forming a contact surface with an electrode on a cross section vertical to the direction of the laser induction of a discharge tube to a recessed shape in the relationship of a distance with an internal surface corresponding to the contact surface. CONSTITUTION:A discharge tube 20a, which consists of a dielectric and filled with a laser medium gas, and at least a pair of electrode pair 21a, 22a oppositely disposed stuck fast to the tube surface of the discharge tube 20a are installed, and discharge is generated in the discharge tube 20a by applying required voltage to the electrode pair 21a, 22a, thus inducing the oscillation of a laser. Contact surfaces with the electrodes 21a, 22a on a cross section vertical to the direction of laser induction in the discharge tube 20a in such a gas laser oscillator are formed to a recessed shape in the relationship with ah internal surface corresponding to the contact surfaces. Accordingly, approximately uniform discharge current density is acquired from the whole region on the basis of the rate of the layer thickness of a dielectric layer interposing between the electrode pair and the rate of a distance between the electrodes between the electrode pair 21a and 22a on the cross section vertical to the laser induction.
