Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove the effect of reflected light on signal light and to obtain a highly sensitive optical fiber gyroscope with low drift, by controlling the length of an optical fiber, which is coupled with an optical fiber ring, keeping the average of the phase difference between the signal light and the reflected light, and decreasing the drift of output. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted from a laser light source 1 is split into two light beams through a half mirror 3a. The light beams are received in two input ends of an optical fiber 9a, which is coupled with an optical fiber ring resonator R. The optical fiber length (14a-14b) of the optical fiber 9a is finely modulated with a specified angular frequency by using a modulator 13b. The angular frequency component in a lock-in amplifier 5b, which is a detected rotation signal that is yielded in this modulation, is detected with a lock-in amplifier 5c. Then, the optical fiber length of the fiber 9a is controlled with a phase controller 12b so that the angular frequency component becomes zero.
