Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled preparation easily convertible into a drug preparation keeping the active component in stable state and able to be reconstituted to liposome in excellent reconstitution yield, by including an alpha,alpha-trehalose trimycolic acid ester in liposome and freeze-drying the product. CONSTITUTION:(A) A compound of formula (R<1>-R<8> are H or mycolic acid residue provided that three of R<1>-R<8> are mycolic acid residue), preferably a compound of formula wherein R<1>, R<2> and R<8> or R<1>, R<4> and R<8> are mycolic acid residue and (B) a phospholipid or a phospholipid-containing material are dissolved in an organic solvent, the solvent is distilled off from the solution and the residue is dispersed in an aqueous solvent to obtain a liposome containing the compound of formula. The product is freeze-dried by conventional means (e.g. at -20--50 deg.C under vacuum of <=0.1Torr). The compound of formula can be produced by culturing a strain of genus Rhodococcus, especially Rhodococcus aurantiacus (ATCC 25938) and separating the compound of formula accumulated in the bacterial cell.
