Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the measuring accuracy by setting a measuring unit and an operating unit at remote places together with an optical communication means including a cable and exchanging the information between both units via a space so that the measuring unit is surely operated and the smooth remote measurement is ensured. CONSTITUTION:The mechanical displacement value is turned into the electrical signals by a measuring unit 10 containing a detecting main body 12 and a measuring main body 22. Then the unit 10 is remotely operated by an operating unit 40 set at a remote place. The information is exchanged between both units 10 and 40 via an optical communication means 30 making use of a space. Then the spatial connection is secured among a light emitter 32 set at the side of the unit 10, a light receiver 33 set at the side of the unit 10, a light emitter 36 set at the side of the unit 40, and a light receiver 37 set at the side of the unit 40 respectively. The emitter 36 and the receiver 37 are connected to a transmitter 48 and a receiver 49 of the unit 40 via a cable 38. Thus the information is transferred between both units 10 and 40 via a space. Thus the unit 10 is remotely controlled in a sure and smooth way.
