Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively display a picture in a work station and a word processor by consecutively depressing a key for instructing the movement of the picture so that moving the picture on a CRT may be performed at high speed and stopping depression of the key so that moving the picture may be finely controlled. CONSTITUTION: When the change width of an address is initialized and the key for issuing requirement to move display data in a window is depressed, picture data is transferred to a frame memory for screen display from the data in a memory for storing the picture shifted by the change width of the specified address. In the case the key is not depressed after increasing the change width of the address, the change width of the address is initialized and becomes small. By keeping depression of the key showing the requirement to move the display data in the window, the moving speed of the picture in the window becomes high and the required picture is displayed in the window at high speed. By stopping the depression of the key once, the change width of the address is initialized and becomes small, so that the moving speed of the screen becomes low and the displayed picture in the window is finely controlled.
