Abstract
PURPOSE:To promote the reduction of vertical movement in a structure caused by vertical movement of waves by providing a ballast device in the bottom part of a main unit and setting the ratio in length of an abovewater part of the main unit to underwater part, with respect to the perpendicular direction, to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:This semi-submerged underwater structure 1, moored through a mooring means 11 and an anchor 12, has a main unit 2 of cylindrical shape excellent in pressure resisting performance, fixing a cover plate 3 to the main unit 2 in its opening upper end protruding to the upper of a water level WL and a disk-shaped bottom plate 4 to the opening bottom end under the water level WL. Dividing space in the main unit 2 by partitioning walls 5 into vertically arranged four rooms, the upper two rooms are used for living rooms 6 with the bottom two rooms serving as ballast tanks 7. And by adjusting a ballast effect by these ballast tanks 7, the main unit 2 sets the ratio of its abovewater part length X to underwater part length Y, with respect to the perpendicular direction, so as to obtain the ratio Y/X of 2 or more preferably 3 or more.
