Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the development of hot spot and to extend service life of a furnace lining by picture-processing the detected signal of heat ray radiated from outer surface of the furnace body using a heat ray detecting means and continuously grasping the furnace condition. CONSTITUTION:This furnace body observing device is composed of a heat ray detecting device 18 and a picture processing means 20. The said detecting means 18 detects the heat radiated from the outer face of the furnace body 10. Further, the said processing means 20 analyzes the picture of temp. distribution on the outer face of the body 10 based on the detected signal given by the above detecting means 18. Then, by this picture-analysis, the erosion state of the refractory 12 lined on the furnace body 10 is grasped.
