Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to securely supply even a manuscript which is thin and pliable, by providing an auxiliary paper-supplying roller with an energizing means comprising a leaf spring and a pressing piece, and providing a gear train having a large backlash for transmitting a driving force to a paper-supplying roller. CONSTITUTION:When the presence of a manuscript 1 is detected by a detector 16, a driving motor 22 is rotated in the direction of an arrow G, whereby an auxiliary paper-supplying roller is pressed against the uppermost manuscript 1 with a pressing force G equal to (the weight C of the roller itself) + (a force arising from a frictional force generated between a pressing piece 20 and a rotary shaft 4 by a leaf spring 19) - (the force F of a coil spring 21), thereby supplying the uppermost manuscript 1. When the absence of the manuscript 1 is detected by the detector 16, the motor 22 is driven in the direction of an arrow H, whereby the shaft 4 is rotated through a bracket 17 by the force F of the spring 21 by an amount corresponding to the back lash in a gear train 23a-23c, and the auxiliary paper-supplying roller is returned to its original position. By this operation, the spacing 24 between a manuscript mount base 2 and the auxiliary paper-supplying roller can be secured at a waiting time, and defective paper supply can be prevented from occurring in the case of a thin and pliable paper.
