PURPOSE:To enable hemming of an original image pattern to be obtained without variation of a ratio of an image part to a non-image part of an original graphic by extracting an inner size (an image part border line of the original image pattern), by taking a logical sum of an inverted image pattern of an image pattern in which the image pattern is respectively shifted by one dot in up, down, left, and right directions and the original image pattern. CONSTITUTION:An image pattern composed of dot data is stored, and a first logical sum of the stored image pattern and an inverted image pattern in which the image pattern is shifted upward by one dot is taken. Further, a second logical sum of the stored image pattern and the inverted image pattern in which the image pattern is shifted downward by one dot is taken. Furthermore, a third logical sum of the stored image pattern and the inverted image pattern in which the image pattern is shifted right by one dot is taken, and a fourth logical sum of the stored image pattern and the inverted image pattern in which the image pattern is shifted left by one dot is taken. Then, lastly a logical sum of the image patterns obtained by the above-mentioned logical sum means is taken.
