Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the raw material conversion efficiency of catalyst while maintaining high dealkylation selectivity in forming the steam-dealkylation catalyst by depositing the catalytic metals such as nickel and other transition metals on zirconia. CONSTITUTION:A zirconium carrier is prepared from zirconia, zirconium oxychloride, zirconium oxynitrate, zirconium hydroxide, etc. The nitrate, chlorate, and acetate of various transition metals such as nickel, rhodium, ruthenium, and cobalt are deposited on the zirconium carrier by impregnation, coprecipitation, and precipitation to produce the steam-dealkylation catalyst. When the obtained catalyst is used in the steam dealkylation of alkylpyridines, the yield of the dealkylation product can be remarkably improved while maintaining high selectivity.
