Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to evaluate the occurring life in SCC and toler ance in an actual corrosion environment without a makeshift test in an accelera tion environment, by obtaining the amount of electric charge for the active dissolution of a new surface at a constant potential and localization coefficient of corrosion. CONSTITUTION:A corrosion model, which can explain with unity an SCC mechanism, is contrived. The occurring life of the SCC can be evaluated by measuring the basic parameters of the corrosion model. Namely, the SCC characteristics can be evaluated by obtaining the amount of electric charge with respect to the active dissolution of a new surface and the localization coefficient of corrosion. Assumption that the result of an acceleration test is equal to the result of the test of an actual machine is not required. The SCC life of a metallic materials can be obtained by an experiment-room test, for which an actual corrosion environment is implemented, and by the test of the actual machine. The system is suitably used as the SSC-life diagnostic method of the metallic material without any trouble.
