Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the stopping of an engine by driving a turbocharger with which a proper boost pressure can be obtained so that the engine revolution speed is not reduced in accordance with the increase of the engine load accompanied with the connection of a clutch, by an electric motor, when a clutch is connected. CONSTITUTION:An electric rotary machine which operates as electric motor or generator is installed onto the rotary shaft 6c of a turbocharger 6 which utilizes the exhaust gas energy as power source. When the turbine 6b is driven by the exhaust gas energy, the electric rotary machine 7 is set into the generator mode, and the generated electric power is supplied into a battery 5a mounted on a vehicle through an electric power converter 7a, and said battery 5a is charged. When a clutch 4 in a driving system is connected the electric power converter 7a is controlled by an electronic control device 5, and the electric rotary machine 7 is driven in the motor mode by the electric power of the battery 5a so that a proper boost pressure can be obtained in correspondence with the increase of the engine load accompanied with the connection of the clutch, and the supercharge operation of the turbocharger 6 can be assisted.
