Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a tension applying device compact by mounting a pair of dish tensers rotatably onto a supporting member and arranging a cutting member operatable through a solenoid in longitudinal direction in central portion of rotation of the tenser. CONSTITUTION:First and second dish tensers 2, 3 are mounted rotatably at the end portions of a supporting member 1, and a rectangular hole (1a) for receiving a cutter supporting member 9 is made through the central portion of shaft. A V-shaped notch (1b) for hooking yarn is formed in longitudinal direction crossing perpendicularly with the hole (1a). The dish tenser 3 is contacted through a spring 6 with the dish tenser 2 at all times. If a yarn 20 being held by the dish tensers 2, 3 then applied with tension and carried is defective, a solenoid 7 is excited to move a cutter 12 so as to cut the yarn 20. At the same time, the supporting member 9 is pushed by the dish tenser 3 to form a gap between the tensers 2, 3. Then the yarn 20 is jointed and fed between the dish tensers 2, 3, thereafter the solenoid 7 is de-energized and reset. Since the cutter 12 can be incorporated, the tension applying device can be made compact.
