Abstract
PURPOSE:To correct color deviation caused by the characteristics of respective color inks, by a method wherein, an N-ary printing is carried out with a color nearest in distance on a color coordinate space, and an error in N-ary processing is fed back in the succeeding binarization of pixels, whereby the error of colors is minimized in a small area. CONSTITUTION:In the N-ary printing of a color image, for example, inks of Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, and Black are used. If the colors except Black are allowed only to be mixed with the other arbitrary one color in the ratio of 1:1 and the condition of not generating any printing dot is White, eight colors are obtained by combination. The tristimulus values of these colors are measured by a color-difference meter, and an appropriate linear transformation to the aforesaid values is defined. As a result, 8 points on a color coordinate space having three components are imparted. With respect to one pixel in the color image, a point occupied by the color on the color coordinate space is arithmetically determined, and spatial distances between the point and N-points, which were previously calculated as values obtained by the combination of the printing inks, are respectively calculated. The pixel is printed in the combination of the inks corresponding to the point of the nearest distance.
