Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize the solidified cement body of radioactive waste so that the deterioration thereof is suppressed and the leaching of radioactive materials to the outside is prevented by applying an inorg. crystalline breeding material to the solidified cement body to increase the density of the cement structure. CONSTITUTION:Holes of proper intervals and spacing are bored by using, for example, drills to the front face of the solidified cement body formed by solidifying cement in a commonly used drum can container and the inorg. crystalline breeding material 3 is packed therein. The solidified body 2 may also be formed by solidifying the cement in the drum can 1 coated with the inorg. crystalline breeding material 3 on the inside wall 2. The inorg. crystalline breeding material used for the solidified cement body is highly soluble in water if said material contains water glass Na2O, mSiO2 as the essential component and if said material contains magnesium fluoride MgSiF6. The packing of the insoluble crystal into not only the gaps formed upon setting of the cement but also the fresh cracks generated after the setting is thus executed by the above- mentioned mechanism.
