Abstract

PURPOSE: To uniformalize temperatures of recessed/projected gear tips, gear planes, and gear bottoms so as to reduce a time for heating them, by alternately applying voltages, which are made different in their frequencies by time division, to a similar heating coil and concurrently by adjusting a heating depth.
CONSTITUTION: Power sources are connected to taps T1, T2 of a matching transformer Tr, which has good matching performance corresponding to frequencies f1, f2 of voltages applied to a heating coil HO, with switches SW1 and SW2 in between. A gear G, which is a matter provided with heat treatment, is heated by operating the switches SW1, SW2 in accordance with division times t1, t2 formed on a basis of a prescribed time chart. Since the heat treatment can be thus performed with the desired matching always maintained, a prescribed heating depth can be obtained in a short time. If the matter provided with heat treatment is preheated at an appropriate temperature below an A1 transformation point ahead of this heat treatment, a good result can be obtained.
