Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable high-speed and clear printing through flexible correspondence with printing conditions, without enlarging the scale of circuitry, by holding each printing bit data on a thermal head in a printing history holding circuit, sending data necessary for obtaining an optimum driving time for each dot to a microprocessor by a selecting circuit, and giving an instruction to a driving circuit to flow an electric current to heat generating elements in the head. CONSTITUTION:A microprocessor 1 operates according to a microprogram, and sends printing/non-printing data on each dot of a thermal head 5 to a printing history holding circuit 2. While the circuit 2 holds sequentially the printing bit data supplied from the processor 1, and gives an output to a history data selecting circuit 3. The circuit 3 selects data necessary for control of driving time on a dot basis, and sends the data to the processor 1. The processor 1 supplies a driving circuit with an ON/OFF timing for an internal circuit of the driving circuit 4 for obtaining an optimum driving time, and the circuit 4 turns ON/OFF the internal circuit according to the instruction from the processor 1, thereby flowing an electric current to the head 5, thereby the uniformity in the printing is maintained.
