Abstract

PURPOSE:To simply appreciate a planar picture without having a stereoscope or the like, by forming the sum signal and the difference signal of right and left picture signals image picked up with both eye parallax, compressing the difference signal to a band in which the recording of the sum signal is not disturbed and multiplex recording on the same track of a magnetic tape together with the sum signal. CONSTITUTION:The sum signal (L+R) and the difference signal L-R of the right and the left picture signals L, R image picked up with both eye parallax are formed, the difference signal (L-R) is compressed to the band in which the recording of the sum signal (L+R) is not prevented and then, multiplex recorded on the same track of the magnetic tape 8 together with the sum signal (L+R). At the time of reproducing a stereoscopic picture, the right and the left picture signals L, R obtained from the sum signal (L+R) and the difference signal (L-R) may be alternately reproduced and the planar picture can be reproduced only by reproducing one of the right and the left picture signals L, R. Thereby, the planar picture can be reproduced and appreciated without having the stereoscopic scope or the like required for reproducing a stereoscopic picture.
