Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the light durability of a magenta coupler having a 1H- pyrazolo (5, 1-c)-1,2,4 triazole skeleton by using a coupler shown by a prescribed formula for the titled coupler. CONSTITUTION:The titled coupler contains the coupler shown by the formula wherein R1 is aryl or a heterocyclic ring group, R2 is hydrogen atom or a substituting group (except alkyl, aryl, alkylthio, arylthio or a heterocyclic thio group), X is hydrogen atom or a group capable of being released by a coupling reaction with the oxidant of an aromatic primary amine. As the result, the magenta coupler which has the 1H-pyrazolo (5, 1-c)-1,2,4-triazole skeleton and the high light durability can be obtd, thereby improving the color reproducibility of a color photography.
