CONSTITUTION:A discharging pressure sensor 22, which detects the discharging pressure Pd of the refrigerant gas of a compressor 1, is provided in a pipe passage 5 leading from a discharging chamber 3 of the compressor 2 to a condenser 6. When a car is being air-cooled, a discharging pressure comparing means 24 compares Pd with the preset value Pdc, and ordinary Pumping capacity control computation is conducted if Pd is lower than Pdc. If the discharging pressure Pd exceeds the preset value Pdc during low speed traveling caused by, for example, a traffic jam, however, a pumping capacity decreasing means 25 operates preferentially, regardless of the ordinary pumping capacity controlling operation by either a control constant changing means 26 or a pumping capacity computing means 27. As a result, the discharging pressure Pd can be lowered.
