Abstract

PURPOSE:To change the output characteristics of an on-vehicle internal combustion engine at every gear shift position so as to obtain running feeling equivalent thereto by regulating suction or exhaust timing dependenting on the gear shift position of a gear type transmission varying the rotational output of the internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 16 lets the rotational opening position of the flap plate 8 of an exhaust port 4 be consistent with a target exhaust angle by a motor 10 while obtaining the rotational speed of a two cycle engine 1 by means of B and A pulses from magnetic pick-ups 23b and 25b so that optimum output characteristics can be obtained. Furthermore, the control circuit 16 regulates the target exhaust angle obtained by the engine revolution depending on shift position signals from a gear position switch 33, tat is, exhaust timing. This constitution allows output characteristics to be changed depending on gear shift positions, thereby enabling the attempt in improving the running feeling of a vehicle.
