Abstract
PURPOSE:To have uniform chemical formation on the surface of an electrode even though its dia. grows by adjusting the chemical formation current so that the amperage in chemical formation peaks when a vacuum interrupter is full open, and by opening the vacuum interrupter. CONSTITUTION:Frequency of chemical formation current is adjusted so that the electrodes of a vacuum interrupter 3 are full open when amperage in chemical formation peaks. This frequency adjustment is easily attained by making the capacity of a capacitor C constant and changing the inductance of a coil L. Thereby the gap between the electrodes is maximized at the peak time of chemical formation current when the arc energy maximizes. Therefore a vertical magnetic field is applied uniformly to the whole electrode surface. This allows uniform chemical formation to the whole even though the electrode dia. has grown.
