Abstract

CONSTITUTION:A compound of the formula (wherein A is a 1-10C linear, branched or cyclic alkylidene, an aryl-substituted alkylene, an aryl, -O-, -CO-, -S-, -SO- or -SO2-, R<1>-R<4> are each H, a halogen or an alkyl, R is a 1-4C alkyl or an alkyloxy, an n is 0-5) is prepared. 0.05-20wt.% compound of the formula is added to an aromatic polycarbonate resin to obtain a polycarbonate resin composition. The compound of the formula can be obtained by reacting 2mol. of benzene-carbonyl chloride with 1mol. of a dihydric phenol (e.g., bisphenol A) in alkaline water and a water-immiscible solvent.
