Abstract

PURPOSE:To carry out a temperature protection at low cost by calculating the load current at the difference between the temperature of switching element and the ambient temperature. CONSTITUTION:An inverter device is constituted of commercial single phase AC power supply 11, its AC-DC converter 12, a DC-AC converter 13 and a motor 14 driven by its three phase AC power while said DA-AC converter 13 is controlled by a pulse width modulation signal (PWM) outputted from a microcomputer 17 through an amplifier 18. A temperature sensor 15 to detect ambient temperature and a temperature sensor 16 to detect the temperature of a switching element (case temperature) incorporated in the DC-AC converter 13 are provided, while both detected temperatures are inputted into said micro computer 17, and a pulse width modulation signal corresponding to the difference is outputted. Accordingly, the calculation of the load current can be performed without depending upon the interposition of a fixed resistance and also without causing any lowering in power.
