Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress electrostatic capacity between a line and the ground, by constituting a protection circuit with two sets of single phase rectifying bridge circuits and overvoltage protection elements. CONSTITUTION:Upon occurrence of input lightning surge voltage between a line side terminal OP-T and the ground G, surge current flows through a diode D1a and Zener diodes 2D1e, D1d to the ground G. Since output voltages from D1a, D1b are low, almost all lightning surge voltage is clamped by the output voltage from ZD1e. Surge voltage in negative direction also flows through G, D1b, ZD1e, D1c to the line side terminal OP-T. Upon occurrence of input lightning surge voltage between a line side terminal OP-R and the ground G, second single-phase rectifying bridge circuit functions similarly. Since electrostatic capacitance is low and no resistor is included in such arrangement, a protection circuit for high speed digital signal can be realized.
