Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the dissipation of recorded information and the increase of a noise, by providing a control means for controlling the strength of an initial auxiliary magnetic field, on the device. CONSTITUTION:By a rotating means 21, a recording medium 20 is moved at constant speed. To its medium 20, a laser beam is projected by a laser beam light source 23. This beam is modulated pulsatively in accordance with information by a control means 24. In this case, a control means 32 is not operated, and an initial auxiliary magnetic field is applied to the medium 20 by an initial auxiliary magnetic field applying means 22. As a result, a signal is recorded. In that state, it is reproduced by operating the means 32 and setting the initial auxiliary magnetic field to '0'. Subsequently, new information is overwritten to an already recorded area of the medium 20. When this information is reproduced in the same way, new information is reproduced, and no error is generated. According to this constitution, an unnecessary initial auxiliary magnetic field applied to the medium 20 can be eliminated substantially, and it does not occur that recorded information dissipates, and a noise increases.
