Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 is 3-22C alkyl; R2 is H or 1-22C alkyl; R3-R10 are H or methyl). EXAMPLE:2,2-Bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]octane. USE:A monomer for the production of polyimide, polyamide, epoxy polymer, etc., a crosslinking agent or a modifier. Useful especially as a raw material for polyimide for an oriented film of a liquid crystal display element. PREPARATION:The objective compound of formula I can be produced by reacting an aliphatic alkanone, etc., with phenol and its derivative in the presence of hydrogen chloride gas according to the reaction formula, condensing the resultant compound of formula II with p-chloronitrobenzene and its derivative in DMSO using KOH, etc., and reducing the obtained compound of formula III with hydrogen in a solvent such as benzene or toluene in the presence of a palladium-carbon catalyst.
