Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled laminate of high impact resistance with significantly improved inter laminar peel strength while favorably retaining high-strength feature, by impregnating carbon fiber fabrics with a silicon carbide whisker- incorporated matrix resin followed by lamination. CONSTITUTION:The objective laminate can be obtained by impregnating (A) carbon fiber fabrics with (B) a silicon carbide whisker-incorporated thermosetting resin composition as the matrix followed by lamination of a plural of the resulting sheets and then forming on heating. Said matrix can be prepared by the following processes; a thermosetting resin composition is incorporated with a low-boiling solvent and silicon carbide whisker followed by subjecting supersonic vibration to the resultant mixture to effect dispersion followed by vaporizing part of the low-boiling solvent.
