Abstract
PURPOSE:To promote the induction of a new bone and to enhance bone inducing capacity, by combining the collagen and bone forming proteinaceous factor present in a living body with a foamed composition of a calcium phosphate compound having good bio-compatibility. CONSTITUTION:A curing liquid is mixed and kneaded with a powder obtained by adding bicarbonate to a calcium phosphate compound to mix both of them and the resulting mixture is molded into a desired shape. This foamed composition is formed by dipping the molded one in a buffer solution of collagen and/or B.M.P. (bone forming proteinaceous factor). When collagen is adsorbed and bonded between the foamed composition and B.M.P., the foamed composition is dipped in a collagen solution and subsequently dipped in a B.M.P. buffer solution to establish a foothold for bone induction. The adsorption and bonding method of collagen and/or B.M.P. may be performed by coating or spraying other than dipping. The exposure degree of calcium phosphate, collagen and B.M.P. to the surface of the foamed composition may be appropriately selected corresponding to the adaptation region of a living body.
