Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce noise and to enhance image quality, by phasing and adding the receiving signal based on sound ray transmitted at an angle unit smaller than beam resolving power to temporarily store the same after logarithmic amplification and performing the correlational operation of said signal with the receiving signal based on the next sound ray. CONSTITUTION:A transducer 5 transmits a sound ray A and subsequently deflects beam slightly to transmit sound ray B having acoustic path difference smaller than beam resolving power capable of discriminating the min. pin target to scan a slice surface while an angle is successively changed. The reflected wave (sound ray-A signal) based on the sound ray A is received by the transducer array 5, and phased and added by a receiving beam former 6 through a transmitting and receiving circuit 4. This output signal is logarithmically compressed and amplified by a logarithmic amplifier 7 and converted to a digital signal by an A/D converter 11 to be temporarily stored in a one line buffer memory 12 before inputted to a correlation operator 13. Next, when the receiving signal (sound ray-B signal) based on the sound ray B is inputted to the memory 12 in the same way, the data of the stored sound ray-A signal is extruded to the correlation operator 13 and subjected to a simple addition and averaging with the sound ray-B signal.
