Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily control the reactivity of a spectral shift reactor core by exchangeably mounting water expulsion pipes or water expulsion pipe clusters consisting of the water expulsion pipes and plugs to fuel assemblies constituting the above-mentioned reactor core. CONSTITUTION:The moderator such as light water or heavy water is alternately supplied to the water expulsion pipes 17 by which the reactivity of the spectral shift reactor core is controlled. The fuel assembles which are assembled to constitute the core include the assembly 2a consisting of fuel rods 13, control rod guide thimble pipes 12 and the water expulsion pipes 17 and the assembly 2b consisting of only the fuel rods 13 and the water expulsion pipes 17. The water expulsion pipe clusters 1a consisting of the water expulsion pipes 17 and the plugs 16 and the water expulsion pipe clusters 1b consisting of the water expulsion pipes 17 and the water expulsion pipe clusters 1b are erected on a spider 15 and are formed. These clusters are inserted to the control rod guide thimbles 12 from the bottom ends of the assemblies 2a, 2b. Since the cluster device is constituted in such a manner, the assemblies 2a, 2b are easily disposed to any positions of the reactor core simply by exchanging the clusters 1a, 1b.
