Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the deposition of corrosion products and to extend the life of a control rod by forming spacings for prevention of contact and passage of a moderator between sheaths around spacers and neutron absorbing plates and providing water flow holes to the sheaths and the neutron absorbing plates. CONSTITUTION:The spacings 12 in which the moderator can flow are formed between the sheaths 2 around the top type spacers 8 and the water flow holes 13, 14 are provided to the neutron absorbing plates 7 and the sheaths 2. The water of the moderator is passed through the spacings 12 and the holes 13, 14 to prevent the deposition of the corrosion products between the plates 7, the sheaths 2 and the spacers 8. Since the spacings 12 prevent the contact of the sheaths 2 and the plates 7, the corrosion products do not act the stresses to force expand the sheaths 2 even if said products deposit on the plates.
