Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain AlN powder with small oxygen content, outstanding in oxidation resistance and sinterability, suitable for aqueous slip forming, by adding a surfactant to a crudely crushed product of AlN ingot and carrying out a grinding followed by heating processing. CONSTITUTION:First, 0.05-2pts.wt. of a surfactant such as stearic acid or oleic acid is added to 100pts.wt. of a crudely crushed product of AlN ingot produced by the metallic aluminum direct nitrification process followed by grinding. Thence, the pulverized product thus obtained is heated to 100-200 deg.C to decompose the hydrophobic group in said surfactant to obtain the objective surface-treated AlN powder with an index of oxidation resistance of <=2wt.%.
