Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cell culture device of simple structure capable of separating a cell suspension culture solution into live cells and a culture solution, having a cylindrical partition in each of plural culture units and stirring means in a liquid medium with a specific bottom part. CONSTITUTION:A cell culture device of suspension type consists of plural culture units (five in the figure). Cylindrical partitions 2-6 are vertically set approximately at the center of each unit and inner cell circulating zones 7 are divided from outer settling zones 8. The partitions 2-6 are not reached to the bottom of each unit and the unreached parts make connecting parts of both the zones. A liquid medium such as fluorocarbon is introduced to the bottom of each unit and agitating elements 29 are set in the liquid medium. A revolving shaft 10 set through the center of each unit is equipped with agitating elements 9. Discharging means 21-25 for a culture solution are laid at the top of settling zone 8 of each unit and the circulating zones 7 are equipped with oxygen feed pipes 11-15 and oxygen concentration sensors 16-20.
